Gazebo, Pergola and Play Structure Removal in Oakville
Gazebos, pergolas, swing sets, climbing frames and trampoline frames have one thing in common: they are anchored harder than they look. Removing them properly means taking out the posts, footings and ground anchors as well as the visible structure.

How the job runs
Site visit
We check how each structure is fixed down, what surface it stands on and how material will leave the yard.
Roofing first
Roof panels, canvas or shingles come off before any framing is loosened.
Frame down
Beams, rafters and posts are taken apart in order so nothing drops onto the patio.
Footings out
Footings and anchors are removed or cut below grade, and the holes are filled.
Sort and clean
Metal, wood and other material are sorted and hauled, and the area is swept or raked.
Before we start
Larger roofed gazebos can be regulated structures, so check with Town of Oakville Building Services if you are unsure; our Town requirements guide covers the general process.
Where old roofing or painted materials will be disturbed, the owner is responsible under OHSA section 30 for having designated substances identified before the work is arranged. Anything found is removed by a qualified abatement contractor under O. Reg. 278/05; Bolan does not do abatement work.
Lighting, fans or outlets in a gazebo must be disconnected by an electrician before we start. For leftover furniture, broken toys or yard waste, our junk and debris removal service can clear it in the same visit.

Questions we hear
- Can you remove a pergola without damaging the patio?
- In most cases, yes. Posts bolted to a patio are unbolted and the anchors cut flush, while posts set in footings through the patio are cut and the footing broken out carefully. We cover the surface as beams are lowered. Where a paver or slab has to be lifted to reach a footing, we tell you first.
- What about a swing set set in concrete?
- Play structure legs are often set in concrete blocks below the lawn. We dig around each one, lift the block out and fill the hole with soil so the grass can recover. If a leg sits too close to a tree root or a buried line, we cut it below grade instead of digging it out.
- Do you recycle the metal and wood?
- Yes, where the material allows. Steel frames, springs and aluminum parts go to scrap metal recycling. Untreated wood is recycled, while pressure-treated or painted lumber goes to licensed disposal. Plastic slides, canvas and netting are sorted with the remaining waste, so as little as possible ends up in landfill.
- Can you take down several structures in one visit?
- Yes, and it is usually the better approach. Many yards have a pergola, a play set and a trampoline together, and removing them all at once means one crew, one set of trips across the lawn and one cleanup. We list each item in the scope so nothing is missed on the day.
