Site Clearing in Oakville
Site clearing removes brush, debris, old structures and surface material so a lot or yard is ready for building or landscaping. It is for builders, homeowners and landscapers across Oakville, Burlington and Halton Region. We clear and grade to the level you or your builder specify.
How we do it
The photos in this folder show finished clearing work: a backyard cleared to bare soil beside a deck and tree line, a levelled lot with a crew member at its edge, and a lot graded to bare earth next to a new house with an excavator in the distance. The goal each time is a clean, even surface for the next trade.
Clearing often follows a teardown or a pool or garage removal, but it can be a stand-alone job for an overgrown yard or a vacant lot. We remove brush, old fencing, paving, buried debris and anything else that is not staying, then grade the surface.
Trees are the main constraint in Oakville. The Private Tree Protection By-law requires a permit to remove or injure any private tree of 15 centimetres or more in diameter at breast height, and when removal is part of a development application the town asks for an arborist report. Trees that stay are protected with hoarding before machines arrive, and we keep equipment out of the protected root zone.
We check for buried utilities before digging and keep sediment on the property. Where your builder has a grading plan, we work to it. Otherwise we grade so water drains away from any building.
Clearing is often the last step before a new project begins and the first thing a builder, surveyor or landscaper sees when they arrive. A clean, even lot with trees protected and debris gone makes their start straightforward and avoids surprises when excavation or planting begins.

Questions we hear
- Can you remove trees as part of site clearing?
- Trees under 15 centimetres in diameter at breast height do not need a permit in Oakville. Larger trees need a Private Tree Removal Permit, and development-related removals need an arborist report.
- Do you grade the lot for my builder?
- Yes. We grade to your builder's grading plan when there is one, or for drainage away from buildings when there is not.
- Can you clear a lot that is heavily overgrown?
- Yes. Brush and small growth are cleared by machine and hauled away. Protected trees stay behind hoarding.
- Do you check for buried utilities first?
