Hot Tub and Swim Spa Removal in Oakville
An old hot tub or swim spa is heavy, awkward and wired into the house's electrical system. Removing one means disconnecting it safely, draining it, getting the shell out of the yard and dealing with whatever it sat on or under.

How the job runs
Site walk
We check how the unit is wired and heated, what it sits on and the route from the yard to the street.
Disconnect
Your electrician isolates the power, and a licensed gas technician caps any gas heater line.
Draining
Water is drained in the way the Town and Region allow, away from neighbouring yards.
Shell out
The tub leaves in one piece if the route is wide enough, or is cut into manageable sections on site.
Surroundings
The pad, deck or gazebo is removed where it is in the scope.
Cleanup
Debris is hauled and the area is raked level.
Before we start
Have the electrician booked ahead of our date. If the tub or spa has a gas heater, a licensed gas technician must cap that line; gas work regulated by TSSA is never done by our crew.
Where an older deck or enclosure around the tub is being removed, the owner's duty under OHSA section 30 to identify designated substances before arranging the work still applies, and any listed material is cleared by a qualified abatement contractor under O. Reg. 278/05. We do not do abatement.
Clear a route through the side yard, move planters and furniture off it, and point out any septic bed, irrigation line or soft ground.

Questions we hear
- Can you remove a hot tub that is set into a deck?
- Yes. We take up enough of the deck to free the tub, or remove the whole deck if it is coming out anyway. The shell is lifted or cut once it is clear. If you want to keep the deck, we frame across the opening so it is safe until your deck builder fills it properly.
- Where does the water go when you drain it?
- Spa water is drained following Town of Oakville and Halton Region guidance, which generally means letting the chemicals dissipate and draining slowly to a suitable spot rather than onto a neighbour's property or straight into a storm drain. We talk through the right approach for your lot at the site visit.
- Is a swim spa harder to remove than a hot tub?
- It is longer and heavier, so it is almost always cut into sections unless there is open access to the street. The sequence is the same: disconnect, drain, remove the cabinet and cover, then take out the shell. Swim spas often sit on a larger pad, which adds some concrete work to the job.
- Do I need to be home on the day?
- Not necessarily. Once the power is disconnected and we have gate access, the crew can work on its own. Many owners like to be there at the start to confirm what stays and at the end to look over the yard, and we are happy to plan the day around that.
