Concrete in a larger project
Selective removal for a larger equipment access opening
Equipment replacement can create a building problem before it creates an installation problem. The incoming unit may fit its final room but not the journey through the premises. Ask the equipment supplier and handling team to define both the outgoing and incoming routes before requesting a larger opening from Bolan.
Discuss the removal portion through our commercial strip out service.
Compare three access options
A doorway width is only one part of a route. Turns, overhead obstructions, level changes and the space needed by the handling team can govern the proposal. Transport dimensions may differ from the dimensions of the assembled equipment.
| Option | Decision needed | Building work afterwards |
|---|---|---|
| Use existing access | Handling team confirms a workable complete route | Restore any agreed temporary finish or fitting removals |
| Form a temporary opening | Designer confirms the alteration and support arrangement | Separate closure, security and weather-protection responsibilities |
| Enlarge an opening permanently | Reviewed future opening and retained structure | Door, frame and finish installation to the agreed dimensions |
Translate movement clearance into a removal drawing
The vendor supplies the equipment envelope. The handling contractor identifies movement and working clearances. The responsible designer establishes the building alteration, support and any applicable approvals. Bolan assesses the cutting and removal contribution against that information.
Keep transport clearance, rough opening and final door size labelled separately. Do not add a generic allowance or assume the existing wall can be cut to match the delivery dimensions. Mark the material and thickness where known, the intended cut-section removal and the route for that material to leave.
Coordinate an illustrative changeover
Consider a replacement plant-room unit whose supplier proposes a larger transport envelope. The project team first compares the existing delivery route with a temporary side opening. If an opening is selected, professional review and affected-service preparation precede the defined building removal. The handling team then moves the equipment; the assigned enclosure contractor closes the opening.
That sequence is illustrative, not a Bolan project or universal method. Lifting, rigging, temporary works and equipment installation remain separately appointed scopes. A date for equipment delivery is not evidence that the building is ready for alteration.
Ask for the building portion
Bring the route information, reviewed opening proposal, retained elements and closure contact to the assessment. Identify unresolved dimensions and who can answer them. Bolan can then assess the concrete work without assuming responsibility for the equipment journey or the final reinstatement.
